Coloring Book Totem Pole

Coloring Book Totem Pole

This is Fe and I at the Women's Retreat. We stayed in some old cabins (more like little old houses) up at Mormon (not so much of a) Lake. I was rather disappointed to discover that Mormon Lake is no lake and hasn't been a lake for decades. Apparently in Arizona they feel no need to rename water features which no longer exist such as rivers, creeks, and even lakes. The story of this Totem Pole is the best story ever even if it was a little disappointing for the older couple that own this and 2 other cabins at Mormon Lake. The original owners of this cabin had a large log. The men were all standing around looking at the log trying to decide what to do with it. They decided to make a totem pole. Not knowing how to create such a piece did not stop these men. They borrowed one of the children's coloring books and copied a picture of a totem pole. The story was disappointing to the lady of the house because she likes an excellent back story. They love to share history and facts entwined with interesting stories and to them a coloring book totem pole even if it is old is not a good story. I think it is my favorite totem story ever and way better than some story about Indians and such.
