August 26, 2006 with additional baptism talk at the end

Chugging right along on packing. We begin moving in two weeks to our larger apartment. The kids are getting nervous as they observe me getting rid of many things. Xander completed his first official kindergarten homework packet. He did a great job. Most of the time he initiated working on it. Elijah can't wait until we have enough room and are settled enough to invite his friends over. Anyone who would like a full-sized copy of the photos, email me the photo you want and I will email you the full-sized version. Carey is hanging up head shots of the cousins which is why there are so many recent head shots of the boys.

Religious entry:

Today was the baptism of my friend Bob Beck. It is an inexplicable experience to watch light come into your friends' lives. Two weeks ago he supplied the missionaries with his first referral. Bob isn't shy and is probably the most open and honest person I have ever met. Many members of the ward came and welcomed and supported him in this step. Their daughter is so happy. Just think how large our family conversion tree is getting with this newest addition. Good neighbors having something Grandma and Grandpa Jensen wanted for their family and now we Jensen descendants have the wonderful opportunity to be the good neighbors with the gospel sharing homes. I would never consider myself an obvious member of the church and there are no religious articles displayed in our front rooms and yet there is a different spirit that others recognize contained in my home. Elder Ballard's talk from April 2006 conference really spoke to me about the simple steps involved in being a member missionary. We had a forty day ward fast for missionary efforts in May. One of the specific things we were asked to pray for was that the members of our ward would open their mouths. That really got me thinking. Most people don't realize they are welcome to attend our meetings. Unfortunately the Becks did not realize this until I finally opened my mouth. I often thought and would say to Jared that the gospel would really help them and bring peace to their home. Always remember that the Lord looks on the heart. Don't count anybody out. Jesus's invitation is to everyone. The pictures from the baptism will be at the end of the album for those who wish to view them. I will hopefully be adding more (as my ability to take non-blurry pix is hit and miss) from the other cameras of the group when I get them emailed to me.

Baptism

Sara,

That is such exciting news. They will make great members of the Church--keep up the good work. I am really proud of you.

Your loving mother and grandmother Landon
