Chocolate Pecan pie

9 inch deep dish pie crust ( I buy frozen)
1/3 cup butter
2 1/2 ounces unsweetened chocolate
4 eggs
2/3 cup white sugar
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp pure vanilla extract
1 cup corn syrup
2 cups pecan halves

1. Preheat oven to 375. Melt chocolate and butter according to instructions on chocolate package. Cool slightly.
2. Beat eggs, sugar, salt, vanilla, and corn syrup. Slowly incorporate chocolate butter by pouring into beaters while beating egg mixture on high speed. Stir in pecans and pour into pie shell. Put foil or pie ring on crust edge.
3. Bake at 375 for 10 minutes. Decrease temperature to 300 for 60 minutes removing foil or ring for last 10 minutes of baking. Serve warm or cooled.
