Comet and Angel sitting on my shoulder.

Angel is the blue bird. Hopefully we are accurate in determining she is a girl. I guess Angel is considered a gender neutral name though. They really will sit on our shoulders together for an extended period of time. Both of them sat on my shoulder while I thoroughly cleaned and dismantled their cage. Angel can still fly somewhat. We only clipped her wings a bit to keep her from getting too much height. Poor Comet was mishandled at the pet store. One of his blood wings was clipped and he can't fly at all as they were clipped too short. When he tries to fly he goes backwards on the ground in short bursts.

Angel started out with a definitely beige/pinkish cere but it seems to be getting more blue by the week. We will have to see though. We thought she was old enough for gender determination when we purchased her, but we may have been wrong.

They are awesome Sara! How

They are awesome Sara! How did I not know that you got birds??? Remember to be careful when taking them for a fly on your bike. If you get too close to a tree you might get yanked off and hurt yourself... ha ha ha. I adore you...

Boy or girl?

Also just in case you do not know, the younger the bird, the closer the stripes across its head are towards the beak. As the bird ages, the black lines recede. You can't tell the sex of a baby bird. When it is older, the cere (bump above the beak with the nostrils) is brown or rose colored for a girl, blue for a boy.

What cute birds!

Their wings do grow back of course. Your main problem will be the sliding glass doors. A bird can get really hurt if he flies into the glass. Some people keep their birds wings clipped to the point that they cannot fly to protect them. When your dad was a boy he had a favorite parakeet that flew off of his shoulder and out the front door when he answered it. He was heartbroken to not be able to get it back. I think Comet and Angel are beautiful. What fun!
