Elijah's Summative

It was in December 2008, the week before Christmas. First the third and fourth graders sang a whole bunch of patriotic songs in the multi-purpose room. Elijah really loves music class and loves singing with all his heart. Unfortunately we have no pictures. Jared had uploaded the pix from the memory card to the computer. This involves taking the memory card out of the camera. I didn't even think to check if the camera had a memory card on our rushed way out the door. (We were running late.) I did grab the camcorder and the camera though so maybe if we're lucky Jared will post some video of the evening. After singing all of those patriotic songs we split into smaller groups and went to the classrooms. There Elijah participated in a city council meeting as a city councilman. They had had elections earlier in the quarter. Elijah ran for mayor, but was elected to the city council. Elijah had to write and deliver a speech before the classroom election. I think it was pretty fun for him. They impeached their first mayor and another was placed in her stead. The city council was discussing the merits of allowing a mall to be built in their town. Ultimately they voted against it for now. I thought of my parents in Idaho Falls with Idaho Falls deciding against allowing Costco to build there and Costco building instead in another town. I think Elijah really enjoyed his foray into politics.
