Maxwell got his glasses yesterday.

Yesterday morning, Maxwell checked with me that it was Thursday. After I agreed, he said, "One more week until I get my glasses!" Again I agreed with him. Much to his delight and my surprise, Costco called us at 10:30 and said his glasses were in. So we got ready and went to the mailbox first. He had been specific about which Costco we had to purchase his glasses from. It was the out of the way one that is hard to park at and hard to get out of once you park. He insisted we go to the same white Costco we purchased Xander's glasses from. I didn't even know there was a white Costco. I am not very observant. Maxwell was a little disappointed in the mailbox detour but I figured I was already that far North I might as well run by there. Plus it is always fun to tease Maxwell. Next we went to Costco where Maxwell proudly put on his glasses, correctly with 2 hands, got them fitted, and signed his name. He memorized a quick poem at the workers request, "If the glasses aren't on my face, they're in their case." and was really happy with the experience. Despite his protests we ran to Wal-Mart to purchase a geek strap. My plan was just to have the strap on hand in my purse in case he ever needed it so I assured him I wouldn't put them on his glasses. He picked out a blue strap although I was trying to purchase a toned-down black strap. He didn't want Xander to steal his strap and since Xander's is black Maxwell needed blue much to my delight. He got his cloth (for cleaning his glasses) out of my purse and started wiping his glasses because they were slimy. He takes his glass wearing very seriously. I then surprised him with a quick visit to Dad's new office so he could show off his new glasses to Dad. Dad took some handsome pictures and if you want to see them, you have to join Facebook and become Jared's friend. Maxwell and I then went to Dunkin' Donuts and purchased a dozen. Maxwell got a few free Munchkins from the worker there and we drove home. I let Maxwell see his picture on Facebook and read the already pouring in comments. He enjoys that. He is definitely growing up in a media world.

The Dunkin' Donuts tangent is that real donuts are really hard to come by in Arizona. Krispy Kreme went bankrupt and abandoned the state. The nearest donut shop is up by Jared's work. I hinted (said straight out) that if he wanted to do something romantic he could bring me home a dozen donuts. I waited almost an entire month and still no donuts. So I went and purchased them myself and they were delicious and totally worth all the excess calories. I played a hand in Krispy Kreme's bankruptcy. I refused to drive past the tempting place and would detour so as not to see it too regularly. My will power with donuts involves not purchasing them, not seeing them, and pretending they don't exist. I would seriously get fat if I lived anywhere near a donut shop. I ate four in the last day and a half and shared the other 8 with my family. I am generous like that.

Back to the glasses: Maxwell asked me if they made his eyes look bigger and I said yes. He responded that he knew because he saw his eyes in the mirror. +4 fortunately doesn't mean coke bottle glasses anymore, but despite the thin, light lenses they still make the eyes gigantic. I can't believe he is going up to +6. Anyway he got his glasses on as soon as he was dressed this morning. Xander and him are enjoying the camaraderie of it all. Xander even had his glasses on without me reminding him this morning. Maxwell is adorable with his glasses. I've always known he is smart but something about glasses makes you look smarter. (Don't you agree, Ash?)

Don't worry if your not a Facebook fan. I will post pix here eventually, it's just that Jared can post I-phone pix straight to Facebook so it is much quicker. No editing. No taking the pix with the camera and then putting them on the computer. Basically a lot of steps are saved.

The end for now.

The look and the brain that goes with it

Smartness does just ooze from those of us with glasses, just ask Max!

You are such a blast Sara! I

You are such a blast Sara! I don't know where you could have possibly gotten the donut obsession from!
