My boys love me, they really do.

I had a fantastic Mother's Day this year. I don't really like to be celebrated, but I had determined that I wanted the boys to make dinner, dessert, and clean-up. Jared was a really good sport at this even though I didn't go for his suggestion of frozen pizza. Since pizza is Jared's favorite food, we eat it regularly.

Jared, with the help of the boys, baked the best brownies ever for brownie sundaes. He made a raspberry cream cheese topping that was awesome. Jared, without the help of the boys, made frozen chicken wings (Elijah's idea), green beans, and a Betty Crocker pasta salad. Jared stayed on top of the dishes and all I had to do on Monday morning was empty the dishwasher.

Jared and the boys bought me dyed bright blue daisies, three little figurines, and Druthers the game. Jared was really sweet because he hates being in the kitchen and doing any kitchen work at all and he happily took care of me and the kitchen duties for the day.

The boys were excited about helping make dinner until they decided they would rather go swimming so Jared was left abandoned. Xander put away more chicken wings than me. He was the last one at the table. I told the boys a story of going to Old Country Buffet with my family.

My favorite food at the buffet were chicken wings. I really could eat a ton of them growing up, still can. For some reason though my pile of bones was growing exponentially on this particular trip and I was still quite hungry. My self conscious girl self was starting to panic at the mounting pile on my bone plate and then I caught my very sneaky dad putting his bones on my plate. He thought he was hilarious. The boys laughed at my story.

For me, any buffet is worth the money if they have wings or ribs on the buffet. I love both of those things.

Mother's Day reminded me that I married a great guy. I totally lucked out with him.

I misplaced Elijah's Mother's Day card before I put it into the blog. :( Xander wrote 2 poems and made a card with a construction paper hand holding construction paper flowers for me. On the back the poems read,

"Most awesome mom in the world
Optimistic
Magnificent

Most kind
Only mom that is mine
Terrific
Helpful
Especially loving
Rainbow"

Maxwell's card had a drawing of, "the flower we got you" and also says, "happy mom's day love ya"

He wrote about Mother's Day in school. He is working on being descriptive and labeling pictures. He wrote,

"Mothers day sunday

Last Sunday Me, Eligha, Xander, and dad made yummy brownies for ice cream sundays. Then We waitid for the brownies to cool oof. After dinner we got out chilly ice cream, dark choclete surup, and the brownies for mothers day sundays. "

After the treats we started to watch Finding Nemo. I was in the mood for "Just keep swimming." I need to be reminded of that often.

Elijah didn't make it on to the Student Council. He was a little sad, but overall was okay with it. He voted for himself and the only other student that memorized his speech. When Elijah was writing his speech he told me that one of his friends told him his plan. He was going to write a horrible speech and then give it to his mom to edit. He knew his mom would then write his speech for him. Parents really have no idea just how brilliant their children are. Elijah was a little perplexed by this. I don't know if he wondered why I wouldn't do his work for him or whether he wondered why his friend didn't do his own work. I regularly tell my children that I already went to whatever grade they are in and already did the work. I do have to restrain myself from the total rewrite when editing Elijah's work though.

A few weeks ago we went and saw the rush hour of How to Train Your Dragon or some lengthy title like that. I had received 20 movie bucks and a free popcorn from eating cereal and so that made it an affordable family activity. We surprised the kids and after the movie ended, Elijah was so grateful that we took him there that both Jared and I got big hugs and I love yous. It was a really good movie and I enjoyed the discussion on the drive home about what lessons were in the movie. One of my favorite lines was "Why read about something, when we can just kill it?" The artwork and graphics were awesome and it was by far the best Dreamworks movie ever.

I am back to thinking I might apply for a job as a TA at the kids' school. I'm not really sure though so we will have to see. I printed out the application and stuff again yesterday. Who knows. I am so indecisive and back and forth on whether I should go back to work or not.

You would be a wonderful TA

You would be a wonderful TA Sara! AND we loved the movie too. The line you quoted goes over well as a political ploy don't you think? I think we are all a bit tired of politicians being more concerned about manipulating information for political gain rather than truly serving their country and promoting the well-being of America. AND we are very thankful for Jared too! What a great example he is for your boys. Love you, Sara!
