Life comes at you fast.

I like that slogan. I find, like many others, that the older you get the faster life comes at you. In the last 8 days we have had a band concert, scouts, Maxwell's Summative, Xander's Summative, and Elijah's Summative. It has been fun.

I can't believe that in another 9 days I will have an 11 year old. Jared rudely pointed out that we were closer to him being a returned missionary (if he so chooses) than we are to his birth. I was observing that it was crazy that we have friends with returned missionary children and we met there children before their missions. Elijah's a great kid and we are very blessed to have him as our oldest child. He is pretty patient with our experimenting on him.

Jared and I have figured out a few great ways to make his birthday special for free. The boys are going to a Diamondbacks game. We got free passes from the Diamondback sponsored Summer Reading Program. We look forward to it every year. This year the gave out the passes at the beginning of the program instead of at the end.

Amelia is 2 1/2 months old. She is very strong. She can scoot but she doesn't realise its purpose. She scoots when she wants me to pick her up from tummy time. She also scoots around on her back. When she wakes up at night and I am trying to pick her up in the dark it takes me a bit to find where her head and feet are. They are nowhere near where I put her down. She will be able to roll over when she realises it is something to do. She goes from back to side and belly to side (less often). She has rolled over all the way but it was just happy accidents since she generally doesn't enjoy tummy time for that long. She can lift up on her forearms a bit and gets her head up all the way during tummy time. She can also lift her head and shoulders off the ground when she is on her back. She has a very strong core. Jared finally was able to get her to stand on his hand last week.

Personality wise she is a great baby. She has her moments where she is screaming and only wants me. Every so often she goes through a phase of "rejecting" Jared (and everyone besides me) by crying if he even makes eye contact with her. Last week that one lasted more than 48 hours. I was a little worn out by the end of that streak. It also hurts Jared's feelings. She generally doesn't like when adults (besides Jared and I) start talking to her while she is in her car seat. That can bring out her pouty bottom lip and sometimes tears. She talks and squeaks and squeals a lot. We haven't gotten a full on giggle yet but sometimes we get what seems like a partial laugh out of her. I can't remember any of my babies giggling though. They have all been pretty serious and studious.

Next entry I will have to talk about the boys' Summatives. They were awesome.
